Ever since I experienced Jonathan Brown performing his poetry at Gold Room, I’ve kind of been on a track to become obsessed with the world of Spoken Word. Or maybe it happened long before that as I’ve always loved reading out loud, but Jonathan has introduced me to a group of people who are taking it to a level that I never knew existed. Desiree Dallagiacomo competes at the McKenna Museum for the opportunity to represent New Orleans in the Individual World Poetry Slam. All five of the competing poets were awesome. Congrats to Jonathan for winning. And if you’re around Sunday, he’ll be performing with other amazing poets at Howling Wolf at 7.30pm.
