Liz and I spent a long time today with my Aunt Connie, who has an interesting story I’m trying to write about. Five and half years ago, she was an active workaholic, but then she went in for a routine hysterectomy. Her recovery time went from a couple of days to six weeks to what is now an unknown amount of time. She is in constant pain, and can hardly spend any time sitting upright, much less working. No doctor seems to be able to identify the origin of the pain. Still, she remains happy and hopeful, which is a constant reminder to me that whenever I think I’ve got problems, I have no right to feel sorry for myself.
