Since its inception in 2004, the competitors of the Beebe Poker Classic were supposed to either dress formally or in costume. Because of poor dress code enforcement only about 30% of the players adhere to that. The majority of that 30% choose to dress formally. In fact, I’m the only player to show up in a costume every year. In order to complete my cowboy costume, I decided I needed greasier-looking hair, but Monkel doesn’t keep hair product, so I smelled like fried chicken all night long.
The bad news: although I was able to make the final table in this year’s tourney, I was unable to defend my championship bracelet, going out 4th, immediately outside the pay bubble.
