It’s probably time that I give credit to Liz for making sure this tumblr keeps getting updated with good photos as she has taken to photographing a lot of the things you see posted. Including this one. Either it’s a self-timer situation or someone was with her and Kaia during their Nora Ephron-a-thon while I was working all night.

Speaking of, if you need us, Liz and I are now waiting tables at Loca Luna pretty much Monday-Friday lunch. And then at night we’re working at the Flying Saucer.

We’ve been packing up our place to go to Arkansas for the summer. I think she’s smiling here because Liz just told Kaia that she’s going to come with us. Or maybe Liz told her that Daddy’s not actually dead from packing too much, he’s just resting for a while. Either way, look how happy she is.

WEIRD SIDENOTE: Liz still calls her mom “Mommy.” (And so does Rich.)

We took Kaia to the vet a few weeks ago because of a stomach issue. She constantly needed to poop, and she was always hungry—so hungry that she started trying to eat canned goods and toothpaste when we left her alone in the apartment. We found out a week or so later that Kaia’s pancreas has given out, preventing her from breaking down her food and getting the nutrients that she needs. I’ve kind of been a basketcase about the whole situation.

Now we have to mash up little pills to put in Kaia’s special broken-down (and expensive) food. I’m not so sure she likes having to wait while we mash those pills up, but at least she’s not trying to eat the Colgate now.

Kaia fights the bath time ideology from start to finish. Her last-ditch effort being to collapse in the tub, close her eyes, and probably wish she had been born a bird so that she could fly far, far away.

This is me giving Kaia the final pep talk before the doctor comes in at Mid City Veterinary Hospital. That sty is finally going to get cut out and her poop is going to stop looking like it came from a soft serve machine.

I know it looks like Kaia’s eating, but she’s not. Liz and I think she knows there’s a mouse taking her food while she sleeps and resting her head in the bowl is her way of preventing that.

We’re getting an early start on my spring break and making our first trip to Virginia since Liz moved to New Orleans. Kaia insisted on taking the bed closest to the window.
